The purpose of this book (in Czech: Obrazy z dejin ceske architektury) is to make known the unique architectual heritage of the Czech Republic through photographs that capture the characteristic examples of the phases of the evolution of style during the last eleven centuries. The authors are three unique personalities: an historian and the director of The National Institute of Care of Historical monuments Jiri T. Kotalik, a creative architect, poet and dramatist David Vavra and photoghrapher Pavel Fric. During the preparation and several years of the realization of this project their specific approaches integrated into a unique creative process; and the outcome is a book very different from standard picture publications.

The story of Czech architecture together with the history of the nation unfolds like a thrilling movie. Photographs are accompanied by very subjective comments as well as technical information. Each of the thirty chapters starts with a "visual poem" from David Vavra, a popular Czech artist and an expert on Czech architecture.
